About Shelton
Shelton is a city in and the county seat of Mason County, Washington, United States and is the westernmost city on Puget Sound. With very precipitous rainfall in winter and a dry summer, Shelton has a warm summer Mediterranean climate similar to the other larger cities of the Pacific Northwest. Since its founding, Shelton's history has been intertwined with that of the logging and lumbering industry, on which the town's economic well being continues to depend. In the 1960s, when Seattle was hosting the World's Fair, Shelton became known as Christmastown USA. “We were the place where the most Christmas trees came from in the whole country" one person explained. In fact, Shelton holds the Guinness World Record win for most lit Christmas trees in one location. In case you're wondering, they had 797 trees - you can read more about it on this page of the Guinness World Record website.
